The freedom to finally be done with diets

What My DEXA Scan Revealed About Weight Loss After 50

July 11, 2025•2 min read

Yesterday, I had a DEXA scan — and it told me a lot more than the scale ever has.

If you’ve never had one, a DEXA scan measures your body composition: how much of your weight is fat, how much is muscle, and how much is bone. In other words, it tells you what the scale can’t.

And honestly? It was a bit of a wake-up call.

The Scale Didn’t Budge, But My Body Did

My weight hasn’t changed much in the past 3 years. But what I couldn’t see in the mirror (or on the scale) was that I’ve been slowly losing muscle and gaining fat. Not because I’ve been eating “bad” foods — but because I haven’t been strength training like I knew I should.

Like so many women, I kept telling myself I’d get to it later.
When I had more time.
When things calmed down.
When life wasn’t so busy.

But here’s the truth: waiting has a cost.
And as we get older, that cost shows up as:

  • Less muscle

  • Lower bone density

  • Slower metabolism

  • More fatigue

  • And a body that just doesn’t feel as strong as it used to

Losing Weight Isn’t the Goal Anymore

The DEXA scan reminded me that losing another 20 pounds isn’t the end goal.

What I really want is to:

  • Stay strong and independent as I age

  • Have the energy and confidence to enjoy life

  • Feel good in my body — not just smaller

And I’m guessing that’s what you want too.

So What Now?

If you’ve been putting off the strength training…
If you’ve been stuck on the scale and wondering why nothing’s changing…
If you’ve been trying to follow plans that were never built for
your body…

You’re not alone. And you’re not too late.

Here’s what I suggest:

Start simple:

  • Lift weights 2–3x/week

  • Eat at least 100g of protein daily

  • Get curious about what feels good in your body

  • And stop chasing perfection — just take the next right step

This is exactly what I help women do in my Weight Loss Redefined program.

It’s not about shrinking yourself.
It’s about getting stronger, feeling better, and finally creating a plan that works for your life — without the old diet rules.

Ready to build a plan that’s actually made for you?

If you're curious what this could look like, I customize everything inside the program to fit your body, lifestyle, and preferences.

You’ll get:
